Capability — Enzyme treatment

Enzyme roof & façade cleaning by drone.

Low-pressure drone application of Biowash enzymes to treat moss, algae, lichen and other organic growth on suitable commercial roofs and façades.

Reduced access

Less reliance on scaffolding, MEWPs and working at height, where the site is suitable.

Low pressure

Treatment is applied gently rather than blasted, limiting stress on the surface.

Less disruption

Short time on site, planned around occupants, traffic and opening hours.

Documented

Aerial imagery before treatment and at follow-up, so progress can be reviewed.

The problem

Organic growth that keeps coming back.

Moss, algae and lichen hold moisture against roofs and façades, block gutters, stain surfaces and make buildings look neglected. Removing them conventionally usually means scaffolding, MEWPs or roof access — with the cost, disruption and working-at-height risk that comes with it.

Enzyme treatment works differently from pressure washing. The solution is applied at low pressure and breaks down the organic growth over time, which then weathers away naturally. Application of Biowash Enzymes by drone is subject to technical and regulatory confirmation for each site.

Who it is for

  • Commercial property owners
  • Facilities managers
  • Hotels and hospitality
  • Managing agents
  • Schools, colleges and institutions
  • Suitable industrial properties

Process

From assessment to maintenance plan.

  1. 01

    Site assessment

We review your address, photographs, surface type and approximate area, and confirm whether the site is suitable.

  2. 02

    Aerial survey

A drone survey records the current condition of the roof or façade and identifies drainage, sensitive areas and access constraints.

  3. 03

    Test area

Where appropriate, a small test area is treated first so the response of the surface can be checked.

  4. 04

    Application

Biowash enzyme solution is applied by drone at low pressure across the agreed area.

  5. 05

    Follow-up imagery

The treated area is re-photographed after an agreed interval to record progress.

  6. 06

    Maintenance plan

Optional periodic re-treatment to keep organic growth from re-establishing.

Limitations

What to expect — and when it is not suitable.

  • Results are progressive. Growth breaks down and weathers away over weeks or months — the surface will not look clean on the day of treatment.
  • Not every surface is suitable. Some coatings, fragile, porous or heritage materials, and damaged or failing roofs may need a different approach or no treatment at all.
  • Heavy, thick moss build-up may need to be partly removed before treatment.
  • Enzyme treatment is not used on solar panels. Solar arrays are cleaned separately with filtered water only.
  • Application depends on weather. Treatment is not carried out in rain, high wind or when rain is forecast shortly after.

Environmental precautions

Planned around the site and its surroundings.

  • Gutters, downpipes and drainage routes are identified at survey stage.
  • Watercourses, ponds, planting and other sensitive receptors nearby are assessed before work is agreed.
  • Exclusion zones are set and occupants or neighbours notified where needed.
  • Products are used in line with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable regulatory requirements.
